Bombing Iran by Israel is to keep IRI in power & to defeat the revolution against the IRI

NOTE: The following in Italic was a short explanation to a posting on my wall re Israeli & Suadi Arabia’s cooperation for a possible Israeli assault on Iran. The posting generated a great discussion that I have now reformatted to flow as a standalone note.
If US fails to manipulate the uprising against the IRI via its favorable Mousavi/Rafsenjani faction, it might give the green light to Israel to attack Iran in order to defeat the revolution. Yes, you read it correctly, If Israel attacks Iran, it is to promote IRI, it is to keep the IRI in power, it is to defeat the revolution against the IRI because IRI weights much more favorable to the US/Israel than a possible socialist Iran.
Don’t you wonder why Hillary Clinton bothered to make a comment about a rally that was called off by Mousavi “Clinton: Cancelling Iran opposition protests ‘regrettable’”. Don’t you think the sanction resolution ‘accidently’ fell on a date (2 days prior to) coinciding with last year’s ‘election’, that it was to give more flesh to gutless Mousavi for his dispute with A’jad?
Is the claimed purpose of bombing Iran true?
Bombing Iran is not a declaration of war with Iran, although both sides might claim it. Bombing Iran is not a full-scaled assault with the intention of toppling the IRI as it was the case with Iraq and Afghanistan. It is supposedly to be of the same scale that Israel committed against Syria in 2007 And against Iraq in 1981. However, neither IRI is the same regime as that of Saddam Hussein or Bashar al-Assad nor in either of Iraq or Syria a revolution against a regime was present. US/Israel claim that it is to stop Iran from having access to nuclear weapon.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, the mentor of Obama’s administration, said in March of this year that “We Can “Live With” a Nuclear Iran”. That means that US does not have a fundamental issue with a nuclear Iran. This claim, i.e. elimination of Iran’s nuclear weapon, can not be the true reason for possible bombing of Iran.
The consequences of bombing Iran
a) It will cause a humanitarian catastrophe which in turn will minimize the focus of anti-IRI movement in Iran b) it gives the IRI a golden opportunity to blame a foreign enemy as the main threat to Iran and hence c) it will let the IRI to crack down the opposition in a scale we haven’t seen since 80s d) It will unite the regime, even if temporarily e) it will split the grassroots opposition to the IRI by the poison of nationalism f) The IRI will play the “victim” role in the eye of international pro-Palestinian/general human right forces. g) Finally and most ironically, IRI will definitely speed up its attempt for developing nuclear weapon even more aggressively.
In short, bombing Iran will strengthen the IRI to the point that nothing can stop it from deploying nuclear weapon to its arsenal. The only ‘elimination’ that bombing Iran might cause is the elimination of IRI’s immediate enemy, that is, the defeat of revolution against the IRI.
The real purpose
Although, bombing Iran is not on an immediate agenda, however, US is pragmatic to its benefits. US keeps all cards to play for the occasion it deems necessary. US current favorable option within IRI is the so called pro-reform faction of the IRI, once that option is not usable, that is, if US is convinced that pro-reform can not manipulate the opposition to the IRI – which basically is now-, it will go full-force behind the nationalist opposition. If that attempt fails or if it realizes that nationalists are not in a position to divert the revolution, then it weights giving the green light to Israel to bomb Iran because the options would be either socialists or the IRI.
Therefore, if Israel bombs Iran, it is to KNOWINGLY strengthen Islamic Republic of Iran and it is to KNOWINGLY defeat the revolution. That is the real purpose.
War propaganda, what’s the use?
Meanwhile, as Koushi Justitarius pointed out, the mere stand off between Israel and Iran is beneficial for both sides. Holding the issue of bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities in Qom, Natanz, Isfahan, Arak, Bushehr and possibly Yazd “on table”, as a possible move by Israel, and yelling it out loud everyday allows the IRI regime to use it as an excuse for harsh handling of ongoing protests. Both Israel and IRI are depended of having an external enemy in order to keep the “War alert” button on to continue with their oppressions. Without the mentality of being threatened by foreign hostility they have to answer to a great deal of vital questions!
What can we do, what should we do?
As Eddie Goldman pointed out, all this reinforces the greater need for a true internationalist response by left and progressive forces. In the West, it appears that the movements against the crimes of Israel and the IRI are largely separate because of the influence of political Islam on those fighting for Palestinian rights.
Also, I agree with Marvin Joel Rubin when he says “The irony to me, that pro-Palestine activists don’t understand, is that nothing would help Palestinians more than a secular, socialist Iran.”
I think knowing the above is necessary for anyone who cares for a free Iran. A) Regardless of the ongoing revolution in Iran we are strongly against military intervention in Iran. US/Israel should keep their bloody hands off of Iran B) Once we get to a phase when bombing of Iran is to defeat the revolution, then the world should be even 1000 times more ready to stop US/Israel
